Changes from outside Wymark

Text that is not your own typing arrives as incoming changes: shown against what you last approved, for you to accept or reject. It does not matter where it came from: a colleague’s e-mail, a chat window, a script, an AI tool. See Review for what accepting and rejecting do.

There are three ways in.

Use it when What you do
Paste as Incoming Change The text is in a chat or another window Copy it, then Edit > Paste as Incoming Change (⇧⌘V). An ordinary paste is yours; after one of outside text, Wymark offers to mark it as incoming.
A tool edits the file A tool can write files on your disk Point it at the file. Wymark watches the file and shows every write as changes. Turn on the AI sidecar and the tool can also read your review: which changes are pending, which text is yours, and where the comments are.
An MCP server Planned Not built yet. It will give a tool the same review the sidecar gives, as a protocol instead of a file. Until then, the file with the sidecar on is the way.

Whichever way, the review is the same: you see what changed, and a change stays pending until you accept or reject it. Comments in the document are the channel back.

# Changes from outside Wymark

Text that is not your own typing arrives as **incoming changes**: shown against what you last approved, for you to accept or reject. It does not matter where it came from: a colleague's e-mail, a chat window, a script, an AI tool. See [Review](/docs/concepts/review) for what accepting and rejecting do.

There are three ways in.

| | Use it when | What you do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Paste as Incoming Change** | The text is in a chat or another window | Copy it, then **Edit > Paste as Incoming Change** (`⇧⌘V`). An ordinary paste is yours; after one of outside text, Wymark offers to mark it as incoming. |
| **A tool edits the file** | A tool can write files on your disk | Point it at the file. Wymark watches the file and shows every write as changes. Turn on the [AI sidecar](/docs/guide/ai-sidecar) and the tool can also read your review: which changes are pending, which text is yours, and where the comments are. |
| **An MCP server** | Planned | Not built yet. It will give a tool the same review the sidecar gives, as a protocol instead of a file. Until then, the file with the sidecar on is the way. |
