Frequently asked questions

Does Wymark call OpenAI or Anthropic for me?

No. Wymark does not generate text. You bring your own AI tools — Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT in the browser, anything that writes to your markdown files — and Wymark helps you review what they produced.

Where are my files stored?

On your machine. Wymark never uploads them anywhere. The markdown files stay plain markdown — open them in any editor, back them up however you like.

Does my review history sync between machines?

Not automatically. The markdown files are plain text and you can sync them with iCloud, Dropbox, or git — comments travel with them, because they are in the file. Wymark’s review history (saved versions, the baseline, accept/reject decisions) lives in a local database, so a file synced to a second Mac opens fine, just without its history. To move a document together with its versions, export a history bundle and open it on the other machine.

Does the website itself track visitors?

It counts them. wymark.app records page views with the referring page, the browser’s user agent and language, the country, and a download event tagged with the version the button handed out. There are no cookies and no cross-site tracking, and nothing is collected from inside the app — this is the website only. The counter is served from wymark.app rather than from the analytics provider’s own domain so that the numbers describe visitors rather than visitors without an ad blocker.

Does Wymark check for updates?

Yes. Wymark checks wymark.app for a newer version once a day and sends only the version number it is running; you can turn this off in Settings. Nothing is downloaded until you choose to install an update.

What platforms are supported?

macOS on Apple Silicon today. Windows is coming, though not this year. Intel Macs are not supported and will not be: the oldest macOS Wymark runs on is the last that runs on Intel at all, and only on four models. Linux is not planned.

When can I use Wymark?

Today. Wymark is in public beta for macOS — download it from the beta page.
